“SALT believed in me before I believed in myself. They let me join even when the program was full, and that changed everything. It was through SALT that I discovered my passion for photography — and it set me on the path to where I am today.”

“Without SALT I wouldn't be where I am or who I am. I'm at an amazing college, I have work experience in my field, and a network of people I trust. SALT gave me the confidence and preparation to start college strong.”

“I was first introduced to NYC SALT through the iPhone photography class. Soon after, I learned about the residency program and was thrilled to be accepted. As a student, I gained valuable insights into the world of photography, had the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals, and built a strong portfolio over the years. I also formed lasting friendships and learned how to grow my network and personal brand. While I’ve since pursued a career in banking, photography remains a passion of mine—I continue to explore it through content creation in my free time. I’m grateful to stay connected to NYC SALT, a program that has opened doors for so many students like me.”

“I first picked up a camera during my time as a NYC Salt summer program student in 2016. Since then, I've had the immense privilege to continue pursuing photography through different capacities and projects from doing freelance to a seasonal artist-in-residence with the organization Local Civics. Additionally, last year I had some of my images published in the New York Times. I would say that I learned to not give up on my photography pursuits because of Salt's most dedicated and talented mentors. I would not be here without them.”

“NYCSalt was the best apprenticeship a NYC kid could ask for. It kicked off my career as an event photographer (ramiabouemira.com), focusing on ceremonies, corporate events, and portraits of artists and professionals. Through Salt, I had countless chances to lead, teach, learn, and create with talented people, immersing myself in visual storytelling and entrepreneurship. That creative thread has shaped me into someone more capable, confident, and well-rounded. These days, I’m proud to give back by serving on the associate board and supporting the next generation of creatives.”

“My time at NYC SALT has been one of the best. I've met very kind people who have taught me many valuable lessons and have supported me both personally and professionally. I want to invite emerging artistic talents to be part of this wonderful program. You won't regret it, and NYC SALT will make you fall in love with photography.”

“NYC Salt laid the foundation for my future creative endeavors. Because of Salt, I had access to opportunities and resources I never would have known were possible, but most importantly, Salt gave me the space to find my creative eye. I just graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design, and the skills I learned four years ago in Salt remain present in the work I create today.”
