September 5, 2024 - Moleskine Store, Moynihan Station, NYC

A solo exhibition by Devin Osorio, NYC Salt alumnus, featuring 64 hand-illustrated Moleskine notebooks, original works on paper, and special prints. Through vibrant, shrine-like paintings, Osorio explores the layered histories of Washington Heights, bridging past and present, reality and spirituality.


UN VERANO EN NUEVA YORK BY BRONKS

July 16 - August 31, 2024  - Moleskine Store, Moynihan Station, NYC

A solo exhibition by BRONKS, NYC Salt alumnus, featuring 64 hand-illustrated Moleskine notebooks. Through a fusion of photography, 3D design, and vibrant artwork, BRONKS captures the essence of summer in New York—its energy, color, and rhythm.

BLOW UP GALLERY IN AMSTERDAM

NYC Salt partners with Blow Up Gallery to exhibit photographs from two NYC emerging Artists, Malike Sidibe and Daniel Martinez.




UNSEEN AMSTERDAM

September 16-18, 2022 - Unseen Photography, Amsterdan

We presented two of our emerging artists at Unseen, showcasing three bodies of work: a collection of portraiture, a documentary project capturing the first few days of the Black Lives Matter protests in NYC from 2020, which was published in Time Magazine and The New York Times Magazine, and a documentary story about the community of a local basketball court in the South Bronx. These photographs offered a unique perspective on fashion, conflict, and community in New York City.


EMERGING ARTIST EXHIBITION

June 23-28, 2022 - Starrett-Lehigh Building, NYC

This exhibition explores the transition from childhood to adulthood, reflecting on how memories, places, and traditions shape our sense of home. Featuring recent NYC Salt alumni, the show recreates familiar environments—living rooms, kitchens, and landscapes—that inspired their work. As young artists emerging in their careers, they examine how their roots influence both their artistry and identity, with many pieces exploring cultural heritage from Latin America, Africa, and India.


WHO AM I BUT A HEIGHTS KID

April 23 - June 4, 2022 - Charlie James Gallery, LA

Charlie James Gallery presented Who Am I But a Heights Kid, the first solo show by Mexico City-based artist Devin Osorio. The exhibition explored Osorio’s identity as a first-generation Dominican American from Washington Heights, blending personal history, Dominican culture, and folkloric traditions in paintings, installations, and works on paper.

Through a mix of ritual and storytelling, Osorio revisited memories of joy and trauma, weaving elements of Magical Realism into his work. Inspired by artists like Faith Ringgold and Betye Saar, he aimed to honor his community and create spaces for reflection and belonging.


BEAUTIFY SOUTH BRONX

January 3 - March 3, 2022 - Joyce Kilmer Park, NYC

NYC Salt, in collaboration with NeON Arts and SONY, facilitated a photography program for young adults to beautify local communities in NYC. The students learned photography and visual storytelling while engaging with their community and building lasting friendships.


DANCING WITH LIGHT

June 26, 2021 - NYC Salt, NYC

Dancing With Light featured 44 captivating images from our high school students, displayed on banners throughout the park. The exhibition included student-led tours, professional portrait sessions, and a collection of prints and books for purchase, highlighting the talent and creativity of NYC Salt’s young artists.


EMERGING ARTIST EXHIBITION

June 24, 2021 - Hudson River Park, NYC

NYC Salt, in collaboration with Hudson River Park, presented an outdoor exhibition featuring the work of our Emerging Artist Program alumni. Through their distinct visual voices, these artists captured vibrant, dynamic communities, offering a compelling look at cultural identity, discovery, and storytelling.

This showcase celebrated their fascination with play, exploration, and documenting visual histories, bringing their perspectives to life in a public space.


TO EACH THEIR OWN

October 31 – December 1, 2020 - Clement Clarke Moore Park, NYC

This outdoor exhibition featured 49 images from NYC Salt’s 2020 self-published book, highlighting students’ responses to the pandemic and racial justice movement through photography, poetry, and mixed media. Displayed at Clement Clarke Moore Park, it invited the community to experience their voices and celebrate their work.


PRISM PRESENTS: "PAD DE DEUX"

March, 2020 - Grey, NYC

In March 2020, four top ad agencies hosted Pas de Deux, an exhibition pairing six NYC Salt alumni with industry photographers. The show fostered mentorship and creative exchange, with receptions, artist talks, and print sales supporting NYC Salt’s programs.


EXPERIENCING JAPAN

October, 2019 - Viabizzuno, NYC

We celebrated NYC Salt students Christian Restrepo, Gisele Placeres, and Grace McNally’s photography journey in Japan, where they represented the U.S. at Higashikawa’s Youth Fest. The exhibition showcased their work created during the competition, and attendees enjoyed a gallery reception and the chance to purchase original prints by the emerging photographers.


2019 END-OF-YEAR SHOW “DIMENSIONS”

June 13, 2019 - Bath House Studio, NYC

On June 13, 2019, NYC Salt hosted its Annual Photography Show, showcasing student photo essays under the theme Dimensions. Held at Bath House Studio, the event featured a private gallery reception, a special photo booth by Malike Sidibe, and a VIP hour. Proceeds supported NYC Salt’s arts education programs.


2018 END-OF-YEAR SHOW “IT’S PERSONAL”

June 7, 2018 - Bath House Studio, NYC

On June 7, 2018, NYC Salt hosted It’s Personal, its 10-Year Anniversary Photography Show at Bathhouse Studios. The exhibition featured powerful student photo essays and stories, offering a deeply personal look into their lives and artistic journeys.

Guests met the artists, experienced their work firsthand, and enjoyed a private gallery reception. All proceeds supported NYC Salt’s arts education programs.

This show was a reaction by the students and alumni to the 2016 Presidential Election. It focused on their anger and fear for what they saw happening to the country.
