At NYC Salt, photography is the foundation. Through it, students develop creative vision, technical craft, and the confidence to take both into college and whatever comes next. Over two to four years, that foundation grows into technical mastery, a professional network, and a creative practice that lasts a lifetime.
The depth of that investment is real: A single college course runs about 45 hours. In one year at NYC Salt, students receive nearly 200 hours of instruction, mentorship, and workshops, completely free. Over a full enrollment, that adds up to the equivalent of 16 college-level courses.
For 21 years, NYC Salt has been investing in New York City public high school students, giving them exactly what the creative industry requires: professional tools, professional teachers, and professional networks.
