Devin Osorio (b.1993) is a first-generation Dominican American artist raised in the heart of Washington Heights, New York City. Deeply inspired by Dominican culture and folkloric traditions, Osorio’s work integrates intricate textile patterns and personal history, transforming lived experiences into secular reliquaries—paintings that commemorate a life shaped by cultural duality and self-discovery.

Devin’s creative process is rooted in revisiting and healing from the traumas of childhood. Though his upbringing was filled with love, he wrestled with internalized shame from growing up queer, fat, and gender nonconforming in a neighborhood where masculinity was often defined by gang culture. His art is a deliberate return to those memories, guided by gentleness and acceptance, with the goal of unlocking the parts of himself once hidden for survival. Through this vulnerability, his work emerges with honesty and purpose.

Using Washington Heights as a conceptual anchor, Devin explores themes of diaspora, nostalgia, and identity. His practice spans fiber installations, murals, and community-building initiatives—each piece challenging traditional associations between material, memory, and meaning. Whether organizing cultural events or providing educational resources, Osorio is dedicated to uplifting emerging artists and fostering spaces for creative and emotional resilience.
