DANIEL MARTINEZ

Teaching Artist & Alumni

Daniel Martinez—also known as BRONKS—is a Bronx-born photographer and teaching artist whose creative voice is shaped by the vibrant street culture and Puerto Rican heritage of New York City.

Danny joined NYC Salt almost 15 years ago and graduated in one of the first cohorts of the program. Through intensive learning and exposure to the creative industry, he mastered his skills, dedicating himself to wedding and event photography. He built his own company while continuing to collaborate with NYC Salt—as a teaching assistant, exhibitor, and promoter of the program.

Danny has traveled extensively, including to the base camp at Mount Everest, Bolivia, and Ecuador, using his camera to capture striking images that showcase both his personal vision and the world’s diversity.

BRONKS skillfully blends the physical and digital realms through photography, 3D printing, and design, creating a unique artistic experience. His work draws inspiration from his Puerto Rican heritage, Bronx upbringing, and the vibrant culture of New York City, merging physical and digital platforms to create art that reflects his roots and contemporary influences.

As a photographer and teaching artist, Daniel’s journey began as a student at NYC Salt and evolved into a career in both personal documentary work and professional wedding photography through his business, www.candidly.nyc. His experience has taught him the importance of being in the right place at the right time to capture genuine, meaningful moments.
