Impact

NYC Salt teachers and students

NYC SALT’s personalized and ongoing mentoring model, combined with high-end photography instruction and college preparation education, has demonstrated its success. Since our first graduating class in 2011, 100% of NYC SALT’s participants have graduated high school and been accepted to college, and 89% of college students are on track to graduate (the first NYC SALT cohort will graduate college in 2015). Our students are from areas in NYC where only 37% of adults achieve higher education. Additionally, the competitive-level portfolios NYC SALT students create while in the program have opened doors to college programs, scholarships, and work opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable. Finally, NYC SALT’s school matching model connects students with higher performing, more selective colleges and universities, and mentoring continues through the summer after high school and college graduation.
